From mastering edge transitions to managing casualties in challenging environments, training here equips rescue professionals with the confidence and skills they need.

Water Rescue Facilities

Our water rescue programs are enhanced by access to a diverse range of high-quality, clean water venues that replicate the hydrological challenges encountered in real-world scenarios. These carefully managed environments provide participants with immersive, hands-on training, ensuring readiness for operational conditions. Key features of our water rescue training include:

  • Access Agreements and Risk Assessments: Each venue is rigorously assessed to guarantee safe, compliant training sessions.
  • Realistic Conditions: Participants practice in environments featuring currents, rapids, whirlpools, and waves, equipping them with the confidence to manage water-related emergencies effectively.
  • Student Welfare: With over a decade of incident-free training and no reported health or hygiene issues, we prioritise the safety and well-being of every trainee.

In addition to natural water settings, Outreach Rescue partners with premier controlled whitewater facilities in Glasgow and Cardiff to deliver advanced training for extreme water scenarios.

  • Pinkston Watersports, Glasgow: Scotland’s only artificial whitewater course offers simulated conditions such as whirlpools, rapids, and waves in a clean, controlled environment. Ideal for Rescue from Vehicles in Water scenarios, this venue provides a safe yet challenging setting to develop critical skills.

  • Vertical Quarries and Steep Ground: These natural settings offer realistic conditions for advanced rope rescue training, focusing on technical skills required in challenging terrains.
  • Man-Made Ascent and Traverse Structures: Built to mimic industrial and natural settings, these structures are perfect for practicing safe ascent, descent, and traversing techniques in controlled yet demanding scenarios.
  • Confined Space Simulations: Training in restricted environments, such as tunnels and shafts, ensures participants are prepared for the unique challenges of confined space rescues.

All facilities are fully certified and undergo rigorous risk assessments to provide a safe and effective training experience, while pushing participants to develop advanced problem-solving and technical skills.
