This week marked the successful completion of the first Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course of 2025, held at Outreach Rescue’s training centre in Llanllechid, North Wales. Despite the frosty weather, with temperatures as low as -1°C, participants braved the cold, layering up in thermals to take on the challenge.
The training featured a realistic crash scene, complete with a “crashed" transit van and medical manikins. These hands-on scenarios provided an immersive learning environment, sharpening essential trauma care skills in a controlled but demanding setting.
PHTLS is internationally recognised as the gold standard for prehospital emergency care. The course covers key aspects of trauma management, including patient assessment, airway control, and managing shock. Designed to build confidence and competence, the programme ensures participants are prepared for real-world emergencies.
Congratulations to all who completed the course this week! For more information about PHTLS training and upcoming courses, visit the course information page.
