10.04.2025

Join Our Team: Outreach Rescue is looking for an experienced Technical Rescue Instructor to deliver high-quality training in North Wales.

  • Role: Technical Rescue Instructor
  • Location: Llanllechid, North West Wales (near Bangor)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 per year

About Outreach Rescue:

Outreach Rescue has over 35 years of experience delivering world-class training in Water Rescue, Confined Space, Work at Height, and Rope Rescue. We serve emergency services, industrial customers, and workplace safety teams across the UK and internationally. Recognised as leaders in our field, we work with organisations such as City & Guilds, Global Wind Organisation (GWO), Qualsafe, and the Working at Height Safety Association (WAHSA).

Our facilities include:

  • A comprehensive indoor technical training facility featuring advanced training rigs
  • A dedicated confined space tunnel system
  • On-site quarries for complex rope rescue scenarios
  • Access to local rivers and reliable tidal venues for water rescue training

We also deliver training at customer sites, as well as at our satellite training centres in Raglan, South Wales, and Deeside, Cheshire. Applicants should expect to work away from home approximately one week per month (though this can vary).

Organisationally, we are not aligned with any specific equipment manufacturers and pride ourselves in offering a broad range of equipment for our customers. This ensures that we use the same equipment they use operationally, or can offer them experience with equipment aligned to industry best practices.

Outreach Rescue has worked with the majority of UK Fire and Rescue Services, most HART trusts, and a wide range of industrial customers. Our customers are diverse, and we are a long-established, well-respected organisation known for delivering everything from basic operator skills to advanced instructor and supervisor training, as well as managerial skills in niche hazardous environments. Many of our customers have depended on our services for over 20 years, and students often return regularly, finding our courses consistently engaging and valuable.

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a Technical Rescue Instructor to join our team, delivering top-quality training in at least two specialist areas: Water Rescue and Safety, Confined Space, or Work at Height & Rope Rescue. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the safety and competence of professionals working in these specialist hazardous environments.

Why Join Us?

  1. Competitive Pay: Starting salary of £35,000, increasing to £42,000 after demonstrating capabilities across a broad range of courses.
  2. Professional Growth: Access to comprehensive training across 50+ courses and opportunities to develop expertise in specialist areas. Over time, you’ll also train and mentor others as you progress within the company, becoming a person of influence within the rescue sector.
  3. Diverse Work Locations: The primary location for this role is at our site in North Wales, near Bangor. You may also be required to travel to our satellite training centres in Raglan and Deeside, as well as customer locations across the UK and internationally.

  6. Realistic Training: We value realism in our training, incorporating scenario-based simulations that encourage students to apply their knowledge and develop their learning under our constant guidance.
  7. Networking and Development: Attend conferences, events, and customer training days, building valuable relationships within the industry. Gain insight into customer sites and better understand the needs of specialist industries.
  8. Customer Focus: Outreach Rescue is adaptable, addressing customer needs and creating bespoke solutions for workplace safety and training requirements. Customers associate Outreach Rescue with powerful and enjoyable learning experiences, and as such, look forward to returning. We are privileged to work with people who enjoy attending our courses rather than those who reluctantly attend training.
  9. Training and Development: You will be trained within our award scheme, gaining all our awards over time and then progressing to teaching these awards. We will also put you through comprehensive First Aid training to FREC 3 standard, with the option of developing towards FREC 4 over time.
  10. You will be provided with all PPE, equipment and workwear.

Key Responsibilities:

  5. Resource Development: Create training materials, maintain facilities, and ensure equipment is in top condition.
  6. Maintain Quality Assurance: Support our internal quality assurance processes and external audits to ensure our standards remain impeccable. Only Outreach Rescue delivers our courses, allowing us to maintain full control of quality and consistency.
  7. Foster Relationships: Build long-term relationships with customers, many of whom have been partnering with us for decades.
