Recertification & Refresher training is recommended every 2 years by means of re-attending this course.
- This course involves classroom sessions on the physiology of morbidly obese patients, casualty handling considerations, multi agency working & planning, structural considerations, crew welfare and legal requirements involved in Bariatric rescue.
- Practical elements of this course include the introduction and use of specialist and generic equipment including lifting equipment and lifting slings and stretchers, anchor creation and use in residential settings, patient movement both in raising and horizontally and casualty care during movement.
- These skillsets are put to use in a number of drills designed to cover a broad breadth of applicable techniques and situations, which may include rescues from the bath, a toilet cubicle, from having fallen in a hole/ditch, from a vehicle (car/hgv), out of a window, up and down stairways plus more.
- Toe-capped boots are a requirement.
- All specialist equipment is provided.
- All practical elements are holistically assessed throughout the course.
