DEFRA Water First Responder Mod 2 Instructor
Previous knowledge
Hold an in-date Mod 3 compliant award AND have recorded CPD meeting DEFRA requirements (maintain CPD to Mod 3 standard, deliver 56 hours training over 3 years). All delegates must also hold an Advanced First Aid Award (compliant with DEFRA Con-Ops Annex F)
Requirements
Age 18+. Delegates must be fit for this physically demanding course requiring the ability to demonstrate all Water Rescue Technician (Mod 3) skillsets with a high degree of competence.
Progression
Recertification is recommended every 2 years by means of re-attending this course.
Theoretical elements
- Classroom sessions refresh knowledge in training planning and delivery, the role of instructors, reviewing and assessing, risk assessing, lesson planning, teaching models and legislative considerations.
- Delegates must produce rescue plans, risk assessments and lesson plans which are assessed.
- A short written examination confirms learning.
- A course manual is issued.
Practical elements
