Description
A four-day course designed for emergency personnel to safely operate powered rescue boats in inland and floodwater conditions, covering both day and night operations.
This intensive training focuses on equipping rescue technicians with the skills to operate powered boats for effective response in various water rescue scenarios. Through practical exercises and classroom instruction, participants will learn to handle boats in challenging water conditions, perform dynamic risk assessments, execute man-overboard recovery, and utilise rescue systems for mass evacuations. The course includes a night exercise to simulate real-life scenarios and ensure proficiency across a range of conditions.
Compliance

DEFRA Con-Ops 2019 Mod 4; NFCC Rescue Boat Code Mod 4 (with RYA Powerboat Level 2)

Previous knowledge

In-date Mod 3 compliant award and RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate with experience in helming powerboats.

Requirements

Age 18+. Aptitude for water-based operations, operational fitness, proficiency in powerboat handling

Progression

Reassessment is recommended every 2 years. This course can contribute toward a Diploma in Specialist Rescue, ‘Specialist Rescue 2 (5085EXQ)’ earning 30 credits.
