GWO Sea Survival Certificate

To provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to act safely during offshore operations and emergencies, ensuring their own safety and that of others.
This training is for personnel working in offshore wind energy environments, including technicians and support staff, who require sea survival competencies.
Addresses offshore-specific challenges such as cold water immersion and safe vessel transfers.
Combines theoretical knowledge with practical survival scenarios for hands-on learning.
Provides internationally recognised certification meeting GWO safety standards.
Global Wind Organisation
All participants must have attended a working at height safety course and be able to perform comprehensive basic rescue from height.
Participants should be physically capable of completing practical exercises and must adhere to GWO prerequisites.
Participants can advance to other GWO BST modules or refresher courses as required.
– Understanding cold water immersion risks, including hypothermia, cold shock, and drowning.
– Knowledge of life-saving appliances (LSA) and personal protective equipment (PPE).
– Introduction to search and rescue (SAR) principles and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).
– Controlled entry into water and swimming techniques.
– Safe use of life rafts and survival equipment.
– Performing safe vessel-to-turbine transfers and emergency evacuations.
