To re-establish competence in safe work at height and rope rescue, ensuring Rope Rescue Supervisors can effectively supervise rope rescue operations and comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
Rope Rescue Supervisors approaching their award expiry or requiring refresher training.

Covers latest updates in rescue techniques, equipment application, and risk management.

BS 8454, Work at Height Regulations, LOLER, PUWER, NFCC Draft Rope Team Type Level 3+
In-date Rope Rescue Supervisor award (issued within 3 years) OR equivalent award if wanting to transfer to the Outreach Rescue award scheme, contact the office for details.
Age 18+. Delegates must be fit for physical training and be proficient and experienced in all the skillsets of the Rope Rescue Supervisor.
Recertification & Refresher training is recommended every 2 years by means of re-attending this course. Successful completion allows entry to: Rope Instructor Assessment
- Classroom sessions cover risk assessing, devising method statements for rescue, rescue plans for rescuing of peers and the qualities of a good supervisor.
- Risk assessments, method statements and rescue plans must be produced by the delegates, these written works are assessed.
- A course manual is issued.
- This predominantly practical course first re-caps on the key personal skillsets of the Rope Supervisor and then progresses to scenario-based tasks.
- Throughout these exercises delegates will focus on the effects of forces, system height, deviations, friction, edge protection, rope stretch plus more.
- Advanced systems include reeve systems, cross hauls, lead climbing, lifelines, complex anchor systems, stretcher edge transitions and management.
- The course is holistically assessed throughout with an emphasis on when delegates direct the complex rescue operations.

This 5-day training programme equips delegates with the skillset to introduce, teach and assess others in the skillsets of the Rope Rescue Operator. This training course should be followed by a consolidation period before submitting for the 3-day assessment to qualify.
