This advanced 5-day training programme develops high-level water rescue skills, including complex rope techniques, casualty extraction, and night search management, ideal for emergency responders facing challenging water rescue scenarios.
The Water Rescue Advanced course provides specialised skills for emergency service personnel who engage in complex water rescues. Covering advanced technical skills in rope systems, casualty extraction, and water search operations, this five-day course prepares responders for scenarios involving difficult access and demanding rescue conditions. Participants will learn to apply multiple anchor and belay procedures, manage floodwater and vehicle rescues, and conduct night searches in water environments. Through lectures, practical sessions, and scenario-based exercises, this course ensures participants gain essential skills in line with the highest operational standards.

Previous knowledge

Valid and in-date DEFRA Mod 3 compliant award AND Rope Rescue Operator award or equivalent

Requirements

Age 18+. Participants must be fit for this physically demanding course requiring the ability to demonstrate all Water Rescue Technician (Mod 3) skillsets as well as Rope Operator skillsets.

Progression

Recertification is recommended every 2 years. Completion of this course at Outreach Rescue satisfies Module ‘Specialist Rescue 2' (5085EXQ)’ for the Diploma in Specialist Rescue and (30 credits).
