Confined Space Instructor Recertification

Goal

To re-establish the delegates competence, knowledge and skills to train and assess others in Confined Space Entry and Rescue and Recovery.

This course is for existing Confined Space instructors who need to renew their award to continue delivering training in Confined Space Working and Confined Space Rescue within their organisation.

Description
This 3-day recertification course provides refresher and update training for existing Confined Space Instructors and re-establishes competence in the associated skillsets.
This recertification course is a demanding 3-day programme aimed at experienced and proficient Confined Space Instructors who require update and refresher training and to re-establish their competency as a Confined Space Instructor. This course recaps and recertifies instructional skills, training design, safety considerations, scenario evaluation, and legal compliance with the Confined Space Regulations. Delegate are given opportunities to deliver training sessions to peers which are assessed, with learning points and constructive feedback offered throughout. The course covers classroom-based learning and requires delegates to create and present classroom sessions to their peers. Practical teaching sessions are delivered by the delegates across all the associated skill sets, including delegates planning scenario-based training to draw out specific learning points. Following successful completion, delegates can continue to deliver comprehensive training in Confined Space entry and Rescue and Recovery.

In-date Confined Space Instructors award (issued within 3 years)

Requirements

Age 18+ and must be clean shaven each morning for Breathing Apparatus use. Delegates must be fit for this physically demanding course and have a comprehensive knowledge of Confined Space entry and Rescue.

Progression

Recertification & Refresher training is recommended every 2 years by means of re-attending this course.

Theoretical elements

- Classroom sessions cover training planning and delivery, the role of instructors, reviewing and assessing, risk assessing, lesson planning, teaching models and legislative considerations.
- Delegates are assessed in their production of training rescue plans, risk assessments and lesson plans.
- A course workbook is issued which is assessed.

Practical elements

- Practical sessions involve delegates delivering training sessions to peers, assessing peers abilities, creating and delivering training scenarios to draw out specific learning outcomes.
- All skillsets from High Risk entry and from Rescue and Recovery are included.
- Specialist equipment is provided.
- All practical elements are holistically assessed throughout the course.
