Confined Space Rescue and Recovery
Goal
The aim of this unit is to reflect the national occupational standard for working as a rescue and recovery team in confined spaces. Delegate will be equipped to control entry and to enter High Risk Confined Spaces for the purposes of conducting rescues and recovery.
Target group
Experienced High Risk confined space entrants and emergency service personnel wishing to gain knowledge and qualification in executing rescues from confined spaces.
Highlights
Recognised City & Guilds Level 3 certification in confined space rescue.
Challenging simulations of complex rescues conducted.
Work with advanced confined space rescue equipment.
Description
This 3-day course equips delegates who are experienced as High Risk Confined Space entrants with the knowledge and skillsets required to execute rescues from within Confined Spaces (both water and non-water industries). This is the industry standard for standby and on-call Confined Space Rescue Team members.
This course equips delegates with the skills and knowledge necessary to work effectively as part of a rescue and recovery team in all classifications of confined spaces. Delegate are introduced to specialist rescue equipment and rescue systems which they will then put into practice throughout challenging and realistic scenario-based exercises designed to draw out specific learning points to encourage the delegates to evaluate risks and decide upon the most suitable extraction methods for casualties. This course covers the role of the entry controller as well as the entrants for Rescue and Recovery operations (it does not cover the planning aspects of Rescue and Recovery, which is covered in the 'Director of Confined Space Rescue and Recovery' course which is a 1-day progression from this course). This is a physically demanding course as it requires accessing, packaging and extraction of real-weight manikins through complex confined spaces, and is also mentally demanding as delegates must be cognisant of the ever changing risks, and suitable mitigation measures in these demanding environments where time critical rescue is essential. Successful delegates can work as members of Confined Space Rescue and Recovery teams.
Compliance
Confined Space Regulations 1997, National Occupational Standards for Working in Confined Spaces – EUSCS08
