Confined Space Supervisor

Goal

The aim of this unit is to reflect the national occupational standard for supervising entry and arrangements at a Confined Space. This unit covers both the water and non-water industry areas.

Target group

This course is for existing entrants wanting to further their knowledge to plan and supervise Confined Space works.

Highlights

Develop competence with a broad range of equipment and confined space access classifications.

Provides a nationally recognised certification for supervising confined space operations.

Combines theoretical elements with detailed practical planning and practical simulations.

Description
This course is designed for those experienced in Confined Space working who wish to plan works and to oversee these works.
This 2-day course builds on the skillsets of either a Medium or High-risk Confined Space entrant. Delegates will learn comprehensive planning of any works, from who can enter, to what equipment to use, the reporting structures, communications, problem solving and emergency actions. The course has theoretical knowledge, then delegates are given work objectives, and then have to create comprehensive work plans which will then be simulated so the delegates can oversee their full plan, including write up post work reports. This is an academically demanding course, requiring planning and report writing skills. This course does not qualify an attendee as an Entry Controller and is not a substitute for any Entry Controller courses. Note that this course is delivered at the level of the delegates, i.e. a delegate who is a Medium-Risk entrant attending this course will plan for Medium-Risk jobs, and their remit following completion will be as a Medium-Risk Confined Space Supervisor. Someone completing this course at the High-Risk level can plan and supervise both high and medium-risk works.
