INSTRUCTOR SKILLS ASSESSMENT / REASSESSMENT

Assessment

A three day programme designed to give students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to instruct others in the Water Rescue One Technician syllabus. As well as the technical elements of water rescue, the course will examine risk assessments, lesson planning, rescue plans and other aspects required for safe and effective training.

Reassessment

Outreach reassessment courses are strongly recommended for Instructor level training. We have chosen a two year interval, with a reassessment course lasting 3 days (rather than the whole 5 days of initial training at 3 yearly intervals as required by other training schemes) to minimise the effect of skill fade and to give delegates the opportunity to bring technical ability up to date. This is particularly effective in the water based disciplines where the availability of clean and challenging water conditions can be difficult to find.

There are options on successful completion of this course to register it towards a Coventry University Diploma / Certificate in Specialist Rescue or contribution towards other higher education awards.
