Rope Rescue Instructor

Goal

To provide the framework of instructional skills and associated knowledge to instruct others in the equivalent of the Safe Work at Height and Rope Rescue Operator.

Target group

Emergency services and other personnel seeking to deliver training in Safe Work at Height and Rope Rescue. For supervision of operational rope rescue outside of a training environment, the Rope Rescue Supervisors Award is also required.

Highlights

Focuses on developing instructional, assessment, and rescue management skills.

Completion of this training and subsequent assessment at Outreach Rescue satisfies module ‘Specialist Rescue Instructor (5087EXQ)’ for the Diploma in Specialist Rescue (50 credits).

Description
This 5-day course equips participants with the instructional skills and knowledge to train others in Safe Work at Height and Rope Rescue techniques, including risk assessment, training delivery, and equipment management.
The Rope Rescue Instructor Training course is designed for those who aim to deliver and supervise training within the Safe Work at Height and Rope Rescue Operator scope. This course develops critical instructional skills, enabling participants to effectively plan, deliver, assess, and review rope rescue training. Covering diverse training environments, participants learn to handle risk assessments, manage rescue scenarios, and support students of varied abilities. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate of attendance; full instructor certification requires an additional assessment within two years.

Previous knowledge

In-date Safe Work at Height and Rope Rescue Operator certification, with Rope Rescue Supervisor experience recommended

Requirements

Experience at a high standard in Safe Working at Height and Rope Rescue, operational fitness, and a demonstrated aptitude for training others

Progression

Must complete Rope Rescue Instructor Assessment within 2 years. Qualifies for the Specialist Rescue Instructor module for the Diploma in Specialist Rescue (50 credits).
