The aim of this unit is to reflect the national occupational standard for controlling entry and arrangements at a High-Risk Confined Space. This unit covers both the water and non-water industry areas.
This course is for personnel with no existing Confined Space knowledge who are required to work as entry controllers for work in high-risk Confined Spaces (but not required to enter Confined Spaces)
Covers complete entry control knowledge for High Risk Confined Spaces.
The entry controller is never expected to enter a confined space.
Perform PPE checks, log and understand gas monitor readings and make safe decisions for the entry team.
Confined Space Regulations 1997, National Occupational Standards for Working in Confined Spaces – EUSCS04
No previous knowledge or experience required.
Age 18+. Participants must be fit for training including winching entrants out of Confined Spaces.
Recertification & Refresher training is recommended every 2 years by means of re-attending this course.
- This course contains classroom sessions covering legal responsibilities, Confined Space classifications, risk assessment and mitigation, atmospheric monitoring, ventilation, emergency procedures and safe systems of work.
- A course manual is issued.
- A written paper is issued which is assessed.
- Practical sessions will include familiarisation with self-contained breathing apparatus as well as Emergency Breathing apparatus, using harnesses, tripods, winches and davit arms.
- The theoretical knowledge is put into play through delegates providing entry control for entry teams in NC4 and 4X Confined Spaces.
- Toe-capped boots and overalls are a requirement.
- All specialist equipment is provided.
- All practical elements are holistically assessed throughout the course.
This course is designed for those experienced in Confined Space working who wish to plan works and to oversee these works.
This is a 1-day top-up course for qualified High-Risk entrants (qualified through Outreach Rescue) who wish to expand their skillset to include working as an entry controller.
This 3-day course equips delegates who are experienced as High Risk Confined Space entrants with the knowledge and skillsets required to execute rescues from within Confined Spaces (both water and non-water industries). This is the industry standard for standby and on-call Confined Space Rescue Team members.
This 3-day course equips delegates to be able to identify and work safely in a High-Risk Confined Space. The course has theoretical input in the classroom and then numerous training scenarios and drills are covered top keep delegates engaged.
This is a 5-day high-level course which equips delegates with the skills to oversee an organisations Confined Space procedures to ensure legal and safety compliance throughout all Confined Space works.
This 1-day course equips delegates with an awareness of Work at Height PPE inspection methods and the practical ability to carry out routine checks on PPE they are familiar users of.
