PPE Inspection Competent Person
Goal
To equip personnel with the knowledge and skills to inspect a broad variety of PPE, make an informed judgment of it’s condition and record findings.
Target group
Any personnel required to inspect a broad range of PPE relating to work at height, including: Textiles (harnesses, lanyards, slings, rope, energy absorbers), Hardware (connectors, devices, pulleys, wire strops) and helmets. Description
This 1-day course equips delegates with an awareness of Work at Height PPE inspection methods and the practical ability to carry out routine checks on PPE they are familiar users of.
This course equips students with the knowledge and skills to conduct pre-use and routine PPE inspections of non-complex work at height PPE and equipment. Non-complex includes items that do not require specific servicing procedures. Common Work at Height PPE would be included, such as: Harnesses, helmets, carabiners, wire strops, textile slings, ropes, energy absorbers, lanyards, and simple devices. Items not covered would include complex equipment with service intervals and replaceable parts such as winches, constant rate descenders and powered ascenders. There is an expectation stated in the Work at Height regs that to be a 'competent person' for PPE inspections, the user must be familiar with the equipment. This training ensures attendees are aware of their legal responsibilities, basic usage of the PPE, inspection frequency, methods of inspection, fault types and means of storage quarantine and disposal of good and defective PPE. The PPE inspected on this course will be chosen for it's relevance to the attendees needs. Attendees are assessed in their ability to distinguish between good and faulty equipment.

Theoretical elements
- This course is classroom based involving presentations followed by extensive hand’s on inspection of equipment.
- Presentation materials covers the legal responsibilities.
Practical elements
- The course is predominantly practical, involving getting hands on experience of inspecting numerous items of PPE.
- Course culminates with an assessment where attendees must inspect a number of items and correctly record their findings.

Rope Rescue Operator
The 5-day Safe Work at Height & Rope Rescue Operator course equips delegates with essential knowledge and skills to work safely at height and perform rope rescue operations
Confined Space Supervisor
This course is designed for those experienced in Confined Space working who wish to plan works and to oversee these works.
High-Risk Confined Space Entry Controller
This 3-day course equips delegates to be able to identify and work safely as an entry controller for High-Risk Confined Space work. The course has theoretical input in the classroom and then numerous training scenarios and drills are covered to keep delegates engaged.
Low-Risk Confined Space Entry
This 1-day course trains delegates to be able to identify a low-risk Confined Space (National Classification 1), mitigate risks and conduct simple entries into these spaces. Gas monitoring is included.
Medium-Risk Confined Space Entry
This 2-day course equips delegates to be able to identify and work safely in a Medium-Risk Confined Space. The course has theoretical input in the classroom and then numerous training scenarios and drills are covered top keep delegates engaged.
